Catch Basin Cleaning

Catch Basin Cleaning

A catch basin is a drainage system used in plumbing to collect and divert surface water and debris away from your property. Catch basins keep pipes clear by catching debris from runoff and maintaining proper drainage.

A catch basin usually consists of a box or basin placed below ground level and connected to pipes that lead to a drainage system or sewer. In a catch basin, debris will settle at the bottom of the basin while the water drains out an outlet pipe that connects to the city’s sewer system.

Catch basins collect and divert various types of surface water runoff, including rainwater, snow melt, and even sprinkler systems that deliver too much water. Catch basins also stop grease, sludge and oils from entering the sewers.

Catch basins are designed to prevent debris from clogging drainage pipes.

Catch Basin Cleaning & Maintenance

Regular inspections are required to make sure your catch basin operates properly.

Once evaluated, the following tasks can be performed to clean and maintain your catch basin:

  • Remove debris and obstructions from inlet grate
  • Open the catch basin’s access lid and inspect the basin and surrounding area for signs of damage or deterioration
  • Use vacuum truck or high-pressure water jet to remove sediment, debris and other materials from the basin.
  • Inspect basin’s inlet and outlet pipes and the surrounding drainage area
  • Identify issues that need resolution and make recommendations for repairs
  • Pump & clean the catch basin
  • Clean the ejector pit

If your catch basin is older, we will inspect it, and we may either recommend repairs or suggest a new catch basin be installed.
