Leaky Hose Bibs

Summer has arrived in Chicago, and home owners are turning on their external hose bibs for the first time since fall! As you turn these spigots back on, be sure to check for leaks. Water lines can freeze and burst over the winter, leading to costly repairs. A quick inspection now can save you a lot of hassle later!

How to safely turn your hose bib back on:

  1. If you have a shutoff inside the home, turn the shutoff back on.
  2. Open the hose bib outside and let the water run.
  3. Make sure that when the faucet outside is turned on, someone is inside the home checking for any visual or audible signs of a leak.

If there are any signs of a leak, shut off the water to the line again and contact our licensed, bonded, and insured plumbers right away!
