Winterizing Your Hose Bibs

Every year when spring rolls around we get an influx of calls from home owners who have leaking hose bibs, or leaks that are coming from the pipes connected to their hose bibs. More often than not, this is due to the hose bib not being properly winterized, causing it to freeze and crack over the winter. When the weather warms back up, the home owner starts to see a leak. Follow these steps to ensure your outdoor hose bibs are properly winterized so you can avoid any leaks! And of course, never hesitate to reach out to us if you have questions or concerns about your winterizing process.

  1. Disconnect all hoses from outside lawn faucets.
  2. Turn water valve off inside the house.
  3. Open hose bib outside the house (you should get very little, or no water at all).
  4. Open bleeder cap on valve (have cup or towel ready to catch any water), close cap and leave til spring.
